It’s a question that we’ve been trained to answer with our intellect, our achievements (self will) and our morality (our good works) when in reality it’s a question that is about the substance of our hearts and what keeps us from our hearts.

The training and equipping most Christian leaders receive is theological and methodological with little or no thought to the growth or development of their own emotional and spiritual lives.
The Sage Hill Institute is a non-profit, Christ centered teaching/equipping organization dedicated to helping leaders see who they were made to be so they can do what they were made to do.
Leaders are called to see, shape, serve, feel, inspire, need, love, long, restore, desire, rest, hope . . .
The most fulfilled (and therefore effective) leaders are those who lead from a fullness of heart—not from their heads (intellect or knowledge) or from hands (skill or effort) . . . a distance that when bridged, unleashes the passion, creativity, and effectiveness of what a leader can accomplish.
We believe that if you change the heart of a leader, you influence everyone and everything he or she leads. SHI is dedicated to do whatever is possible to help leaders articulate, implement, and fulfill their visions. Ultimately, we help leaders serve by helping them to live fully, to love deeply, and to lead well. So that they can live and serve with passion, intimacy, and integrity.
For several years, our founders have pioneered and continued to refine a process that they could offer to leaders who want to continue to move more deeply into their own quest of living more fully, loving more deeply, and leading more effectively.
In 2006 Sage Hill, LLC was launched, which marked the beginning of a vision that had been maturing for almost a decade. What emerged was a 12-week training experience to help Christian leaders become more of who they are made to be, so that they can do what they are made to do.
The inaugural group began in February 2007 with ten men; a pair of physicians, a lawyer, two pastors, a financial advisor, a consultant, an organizational trainer, a pharmacist, and a business manager—all leaders.
. . . but more importantly, it was a group of husbands, fathers, friends, sons, and brothers who became better equipped to engage more deeply their wives, children, friends, and families.
Through our training experiences, executive coaching, and organizational consulting, we help leaders return home: first to their own hearts, then to their families, and finally to their mission.
In 2009 we began Sage Hill Institute, a non-profit teaching and training organization, as a way to bring the message and work of transformation and how to live fully to more and more people. We help leaders recognize, identify, and express the substance of their heart.
SHI uses the Spiritual Root System© to teach the language of the heart and utilize its substance to uncover passion, fulfill vision and instill integrity.

Through speaking, workshops, retreats, and conferences, we partner with organizations to instruct, equip, inspire, and encourage their staff and constituencies toward becoming more of who they desire to become.
