Staff

Jeff Schulte, Executive Director, Fellow

Jeff is a Fellow and Executive Director of the Sage Hill Institute, an initiative for authentic Christian leadership. He speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of men’s issues including biblical masculinity, fatherhood, spiritual formation, leadership, and relational authenticity.

Prior to this, Jeff was the Directional Leader and co-founder of Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville TN, a church that grew under his leadership from 4 people to over 4000 in eight years. Jeff also served for 12 years in various leadership roles with Athletes in Action and FamilyLife (both ministries of Campus Crusade for Christ) and has past and current experience serving on the boards of several national ministries.

He is the co-author of two Gold Medallion award winning resources including Preparing for Marriage. He received his Th.M.and M.Div. from Western Seminary with highest honors and is a graduate of Yale University where he majored in Organizational Behavior. Jeff and his wife Brenda are the parents of six children and reside in Anchorage, AK. jeff@sagehillinstitute.org

Chip Dodd, President of the Board, Fellow

Chip is the executive director and cofounder of The Center for Professional Excellence, a multidisciplinary treatment center for licensed professionals with addiction, depression, burnout, anxiety, and other behavioral problems.

He received his Ph.D. in counseling from the University of North Texas and his Master’s degree in English from the University of Mississippi.

Chip is the author of The Voice of the Heart: A Call to Full Living. A popular speaker, Dr. Dodd has led workshops, seminars, and retreats on relationship with God, full living, servant leadership, healing woundedness, and recovery in addictions. He lives in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife, Sonya and their two sons.


Phil Herndon, Secretary of the Board, Fellow

Phil is the clinical director of The Center for Professional Excellence, a multidisciplinary treatment center for licensed professionals with addiction, depression, burnout, anxiety, and other behavioral problems.

He received his MA in Marriage and Family Counseling, and his MA in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Phil was a leader and a pastor at North Ft. Worth Baptist Church for 12 years. He now lives in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife, Sheila, and their son.


Stephen James, Fellow

Stephen is a private practice psychotherapist working primarily with men, women, and marriage issues.He is the co-author of five books, the latest is Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys. Stephen speaks frequently on the topics of marriage and relationships, sexual integrity, servant leadership, and spiritual authenticity.

Stephen earned his masters in counseling from Mars Hill Graduate School at Western Seminary Seattle and his undergraduate degree in English from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He lives in Nashville with his wife Heather and their four children.
